Land travel between Brunei and Kota Kinabalu is still technically possible; however, since the pandemic, the bus companies that used to operate between the two destinations have ceased services. Currently, there are no regular bus routes available, and travelers must explore alternatives ways either through air or sea. The situation may change, so it’s best to check for any updates on transportation options before planning your trip.
Kota Kinabalu, often referred to as “KK” by locals, is a coastal city known for its stunning sunsets, vibrant markets, and gateway to the famous Mount Kinabalu. The city offers a perfect blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination.

Kota Kinabalu experiences a tropical rainforest climate, with warm temperatures and high humidity throughout the year. Kota Kinabalu is easily accessible from the Philippines with direct flights from Manila, Cebu, and Davao. Airlines such as Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and AirAsia operate flights to Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI). The flight duration is approximately 2 hours.

Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport, getting to the city center is convenient. You can take a taxi or use the Grab App for a more affordable ride. The journey to the city center takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Kota Kinabalu is a relatively small, so getting around is easy. Bus and Grab Taxi are widely available for longer distances.
