As a young man in his early 30s losing my hair or my crowning glory can be very stressful. Having a thick hair can really add good looks and at some extent it can also add character to my personality and even embodies my identity.
Our hair is a simple structure, but plays a lot of important
functions. We think that our hair is just for aesthetic value. Our crowning
glory has several biological importance that majority of us don't know.
The most important function of the hair is to insulate our
body against cold by conserving body heat. It also protects us from
ultra-violet radiation exposure.
Now, Imagine losing your crowning glory? El Terrible!
Here are some of the reasons why we suffer from hair loss:
1.) Because of your genes
-our genetics play a huge role in hair loss, so if your
father or close relatives are suffering from hair loss or balding you're more
likely to have it too. In scientific term they call it as androgenetic alopecia
or male pattern baldness.
2.) You are suffering from a medical issues or infections
-people experience temporary hair loss because of their
medical condition. A hair loss can be a sign of anemia or thyroid problems.
3.) Your diet
-If your diet is low in protein or iron this can lead to losing
or thinning of hair.
4.) Stress
-you read it right! Stress and hair loss can be related. If
you get your stress under control, your crowning glory will definitely grow
back.
There are more reasons why we suffer from hair loss. If you
are experiencing more than usual hair loss, sudden or patchy hair when taking a
shower or brushing your hair, then maybe it is time to talk to a doctor. Losing your crowning glory aka your hair
might also be a signal of an underlying medical condition that requires an immediate
treatment or action.
